Working together
What does ROBATZ help companies build?
We help with custom web and mobile applications, AI-enabled workflows, product design, integrations, Rails modernization and cloud delivery. You can start with a specific product problem or an existing system that needs improvement. We define the scope and delivery approach around the result you need.
Can we start with a small assessment?
Yes. An assessment can clarify the problem, review an existing application or test a risky integration before a larger commitment. We agree the questions, deliverables and boundaries first. The result should support a decision about the next stage, including whether development is the right next step.
Can you work with our existing engineering team?
Yes. The engagement can complement an existing team or cover a defined product workstream. We agree responsibilities, access, review practices and handoff expectations so that decisions and ownership remain clear. The specific team and availability are confirmed during scoping.
Will we own the code and receive a handoff?
Code ownership, licenses, repository access and handoff deliverables should be explicit in the agreement before work starts. We can define a handoff that covers the application, deployment instructions, operational documentation and knowledge transfer. Third-party components retain their applicable licenses.
What should we send before the first conversation?
A short description of the problem, who uses the product, your current system and any important timing or budget constraints is enough to begin. A relevant link or diagram can help. Please do not include passwords, production credentials or sensitive customer records in the initial message.
Planning and delivery
How much will our project cost?
The estimate depends on scope, integrations, data quality, design, quality requirements and the condition of any existing code. Share the main workflow, current system and constraints. We can then identify what is known, which questions need investigation and how to break the work into manageable stages.
How long does a software project take?
There is no useful universal timeline. A focused assessment, a first product release and a migration have different dependencies. We establish milestones after reviewing scope, access, decision-makers and external systems. The plan should make assumptions and delivery risks visible from the beginning.
Modernization
Can you take over an existing application?
Yes. We start by reviewing the application, dependencies, deployment process and critical user journeys. That helps distinguish urgent maintenance from product improvements and exposes missing access or documentation. The takeover plan should include knowledge transfer, testing and operational ownership.
Should we upgrade Rails or rebuild the application?
The decision depends on the problem. An upgrade may be appropriate when the product still fits the business but dependencies need maintenance. A rewrite needs a specific case, including migration and transition costs. We assess the existing system and compare feasible paths before recommending one.
AI and data
Do we need AI for this workflow?
Not every workflow benefits from AI. We compare the task with simpler options such as rules, search and standard integrations. AI is worth exploring when its capabilities improve a defined outcome and its errors, cost and oversight can be managed. An initial evaluation can test that assumption.
What is the difference between RAG and fine-tuning?
RAG supplies relevant information to a model when it answers a question. Fine-tuning changes model behavior through additional training. RAG is often a useful starting point for private or changing documents; fine-tuning may suit a measured behavior or formatting problem. We evaluate the choice against real tasks.
Can AI work with our internal documents and systems?
An application can connect AI features to approved data sources and tools, subject to their access and integration capabilities. The design needs clear permissions, document updates, evaluation and action controls. We establish which information and actions are in scope before building the connection.
How do you evaluate AI quality?
We define representative tasks and acceptance criteria for the proposed use case, then test both useful results and important failure conditions. Depending on the workflow, that can include source accuracy, permissions, tool actions, response time and cost. Evaluation continues when prompts, models or data change.
Can an AI agent act without human approval?
That is a design decision tied to the action and its consequences. A system can prepare drafts or suggestions while reserving consequential changes for an authorized person. Permissions, approval steps, logging and limits should be enforced by the application. We agree those boundaries before expanding automation.
